KC Metro Integrated Services Technology Planning
Supporting King County Metro’s planning for a more unified, customer-centered technology system across demand-responsive services.
- Role
- Subject-matter expert, reviewer, and thought partner
- Clients
- King County Metro
UrbanLabs supported King County Metro as a subject-matter expert while the agency explored how to evolve siloed technologies into a more cohesive system for non-fixed-route services.
The scope included advising on objectives, reviewing interview questions and draft deliverables, discussing key findings, and providing ad hoc support for planning technology that could support Metro’s integrated services vision.
The project is notable because it focused on the connective tissue between systems: how booking, scheduling, dispatch, data integration, and customer experience should fit together in a way that supports a more consistent plan-book-pay experience.
Why it matters
This project gets to the core of UrbanLabs: technology should help people navigate shared mobility systems more coherently, not force them to experience a patchwork of disconnected tools. Planning integrated service technology is ultimately about helping urban systems feel more understandable and humane.
